| Merry Christmas, Friends and Family! We have been so blessed over the years and have much to be grateful for---2008 has been no different. We are healthy and happy. We’ve continued to stay involved with our families and friends, the local schools, our church, and our recreation and retirement groups. We took the opportunity to do a little traveling this year and plan to do more in 2009. One of our biggest adventures this year was the sale of our Sorrento house and property and Tate & Sarah’s purchase of a home in Gonzales. We’re so happy they chose to buy and live in Louisiana--their Black Bayou address is not nearly as far away as California. Their new home is actually an old house that was built in the early1940’s and is exactly what they were looking for. Of course, they’ve added the “Tate & Sarah” touches that make it all theirs. Tate has a fantastic building that he uses as an office/editing facility, but he continues to travel the country shooting weddings, engagements, senior portraits, etc. Sarah just started her dream job at Louisiana Rehabilitation working as a counselor for the deaf. We, along with our Bourgeois family and friends, put together a very successful fund raiser for Alzheimer’s Services of the Capital Area in June in honor and memory of our aunts and uncles and grandparents. Family members and their friends, all of whom are artistic and crafty, were recruited to contribute their talents to an incredible silent auction; we had a total of 82 items. Family and friends prepared their favorite desserts, and a cousin’s performing arts academy provided the entertainment for “A Time to Remember.” All was fantastic! In three hours we raised $22,040-- way more than we expected, especially for a first time endeavor. Our plan is to do it again on June 29, 2009. The most significant event of the year was the passing of Cecilia B. Lambert--Mom, Granny, Aunt Cil, Cil -- on 9/11, at the age of 82. She was a pleasant, smiling, happy person until the few weeks just preceding her death. Her health issues were enhanced by our decision to evacuate her with the nursing home when Hurricane Gustav threatened our area. We feel our reasons for allowing her to be evacuated were right, but the journey proved too tough. She returned 11 days later in a coma and passed away shortly after her return. Her death was very peaceful –thanks to our merciful Father who finally took her home. We hope you had the opportunity to know her before Alzheimer’s took her from us. She was an angel on earth and is sorely missed. We live, laugh, and love life here in Cajun country. We live in what we call “the compound,” and we share meals, projects, help, and work with each other. You and yours are invited to visit us and to share in our happiness.
